Hello! We are Amanda and Briana, a birth doula team. Joining forces to create Nana’s Birth Services we provide top-notch support to expecting families in the Denver Metro area. Supporting roles during labor and birth have been seen for thousands of years. As modern-day doulas we care for our clients in the early stages of pregnancy by providing evidence-based resources and education about birth choices. While the pregnancy progresses, we talk about comfort measures and physical support as the body changes. When labor comes on, we offer a constant presence bringing support with comfort measures, calm words of affirmation and support for partners. We hope that we can create a calm and nurturing experience from womb to swaddle. No matter the circumstances surrounding your pregnancy and birth we believe that we can provide the necessary support and we look forward to meeting you!

My name is Amanda Jones. Most know me as Mandie (she/her/hers). I am a birth doula and childbirth educator. I have been doing birthwork since March 2014 with a passion for helping expectant families achieve their birth goals. I have attended a variety of hospital births and birth center births and have seen the value in supporting laboring folks no matter the setting. How awesome to be invited into the most precious part of someone’s life to support them through it?!
On a personal note, I have two children both born by “belly birth”. My 12-year-old was born 9 weeks early which was quite the introduction to parenting! She has not stopped teaching us about how wonderfully messy life is. My 9-year-old was also medically fragile and needed heart surgery at just 3 months of age. You could say we have been through the wringer, but all this has given me a reason to support families through this special and sometimes unpredictable time of life. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 17 years and we live in Lakewood Colorado. We love spending time together as a family and enjoy being involved in our community and our neighborhood.

Babies and childcare feel like they have been a part of who I am for as long as I can remember. I was a girly girl; my favorite game was “house” where I got to be the mom, and I had a whole tub of baby dolls. All I have ever wanted to be is a mom.
My first interest in birth work started from watching the TLC channel’s shows “A Baby Story” and “Bringing Home Baby.” They displayed all different kinds of birth from natural birth at home with a midwife to high-risk pregnancy ending in an emergency C-Section. My favorite was watching the midwives with the moms; seeing the care and comfort that went into those births drew me in. Naturally, I am a very empathic person, and I often would cry and feel every emotion broadcasted. The beauty of every single birth no matter the situation, left me in awe, and I decided being a midwife was what I wanted to be when I grew up.
As hard as I tried to go the nursing route working my way into being a midwife, nursing school was just not for me. Then life hit with the birth of my daughter. Shortly after, the idea of being a doula was first introduced to me. I had no interest because I did not understand the role a doula played. The more I looked into it and realized that the passion I have for the care and comfort of a mom in labor matched up exactly with the role of a doula and so much more. Before I knew it, I had taken the introductory class and was on course for my certification as a doula.
It was a huge blessing to partner up with Mandie who helped me with my certification and getting connected into the doula community. As of now, life is still insane, but I could not be more excited and motivated by birthwork in this community. The knowledge and experience over these last couple of years have only made me more ready, passionate, and excited to share and thrive in this rewarding path of life.
